Sub-Zero 650 Refrigerator Repair – Water Leak & Ice Buildup

We recently repaired a Sub-Zero 650 refrigerator that was experiencing ice buildup on the refrigerator compartment floor and water leaking onto the kitchen floor.

After a thorough inspection, we determined that the issue was related to a common design problem found on certain Sub-Zero 550 and 650 models. A failed mullion heater allowed condensation and ice to form around the drain area, eventually blocking proper drainage and causing water to overflow inside the refrigerator.

To permanently resolve the problem, we installed the Sub-Zero OEM Repair Kit for 550/650 models, which includes an upgraded mullion heater assembly. This factory repair kit helps prevent ice formation, improves drainage, and restores proper refrigerator operation.

After installation, we tested the unit to verify that the drain system was functioning correctly and that the refrigerator was operating as designed.

If you own a Sub-Zero 550 or 650 refrigerator and notice ice forming on the refrigerator floor, water leaks inside the unit, or puddles on your kitchen floor, the mullion heater repair kit may be the recommended long-term solution. Professional installation with genuine OEM parts helps ensure reliable performance and prevents the problem from returning.
