Refrigerator Repair – Burning Rubber Smell

We recently serviced a refrigerator after the customer noticed a strong burning rubber smell coming from inside the unit. A burning or unusual electrical odor from a refrigerator should always be inspected promptly, as it may indicate an overheating or failed component.

After performing a thorough diagnostic, we found that the upper evaporator fan motor had burned out. The evaporator fan is an important part of the cooling system, circulating cold air throughout the refrigerator to maintain consistent temperatures.

To correct the problem, we removed the failed component and replaced it with a new OEM upper evaporator fan motor.

After installation, we tested the fan operation, airflow, and refrigerator performance. The new evaporator fan motor is operating properly, the abnormal smell is gone, and the refrigerator is back to normal operation.

If your refrigerator develops a burning rubber or electrical smell, unusual fan noise, poor airflow, or inconsistent temperatures, turn your attention to the issue promptly. Professional diagnostics can identify the failed component and help prevent additional damage.
